Arrested for rushing out to catch Pokemon despite being isolated

The 31-year-old man was arrested for violating an isolation order in an Italian town to play Pokemon Go.

Since March 9, Italy has taken strong measures to curb the spread of Covid-19. According to the national blockade decree of March 10, people can only go to the street if they declare clearly necessary reasons such as going to work or buying necessities.

According to PhoneArena, a 31-year-old Italian national man and his daughter went out to hunt Pokemon. This incident occurred in San Ferro, a small town in northern Italy. This is one of the earliest corona virus outbreaks in Europe.

When asked by Italty police why he didn't comply with the quarantine regulations, the man said "I have to hunt Pokemon". The reason was clearly not convincing and the man was arrested.

Currently, Italy is seriously affected by corona virus. The country has recorded 47,021 cases, about half that of mainland China, but 4,032 deaths. The country's death rate is 8.3%, the highest in the world. This means that about one in 10 infected people dies.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte warned that the quarantine measures "must be longer than the initial time limit". Italy sealed the country on March 10 with an expected deadline of March 25. Italians are not allowed to go out after 6 pm, banning public events, including catching Pokemon.
